Volunteers
For its 27-year history, Encounters has found itself blessed with a dedicated team of volunteers:
- 13 provincial and territorial presidents
- approximately 100 regional coordinators
- over 4,000 teacher-monitors
- thousands of school liaison personnel
If it wasn’t for these people, the EWC program would not be the success it is. Indeed, the extent and breadth of Encounters’ volunteer base can easily be seen both in the recruitment process and the brief history of the organization, previously outlined.
Another example of the dedication of EWC’s volunteers brings the name of Michael White to mind. In March of 2009, this now retired New Brunswick teacher celebrated his 50th and 51st weeks of acting as a teacher-monitor over a 15-year span – a new volunteer record never seen before in EWC’s history!
And this is only one example of the many thousands of dedicated volunteers that have helped the EWC program move forward over the years. Encounters’ advisory board also plays an important role.
